This site provides a gateway for the defend uk campaign, a new independent people-powered initiative launched in 2026 by Jason Tanner to promote and protect fairer free speech for democracy. The campaign exists to seize back control of free speech for the people when threats are exposed and it will 'break the shackles' of the algorithm. It will also see the piloting of an Independent Digital News network as part of efforts to promote citizen journalism & external articles about free speech in order to restore a fairer balance; Appropriate contributions or articles you may have spotted or written are welcome to be featured and the campaign invites volunteers keen to make a difference or those seeking campaigns work experience. hello@defenduk.uk

With his career launching as a Broadcast Radio Journalist, Jason Tanner developed a working knowledge in wide ranging disciplines such as politics, democracy, free speech & monarchy; heritage, tourism, consumer relations, entertainment, volunteering, cancer research and skills-training. He's progressed to a senior level in both media and public relations. This followed five years as a broadcast journalist for BBC and Independent Local Radio including Radio Mercury FM & BBC Surrey / Southern Counties. He has led successful, talented and productive communications teams in the charity sector including the National Trust . He headed external communications for Dame Elisabeth Hoodless at the national volunteering & training charity CSV, (Volunteering Matters) Elisabeth pioneered projects that saw citizen volunteers support children-at-risk ; harnessed older people to transform the futures of young people and created schemes that saw volunteers improve outcomes in hospitals and prisons. Jason is also a keen 'ambassador for London' having welcomed 10,000 visitors; uniquely extending his career skills and passions as the Director of Tanners Tours London .
